ANNA RUTLEDGE is in the third year of the PhD program in musicology at the University of Toronto. She completed her MA at UofT in 2005 and holds a BMus (Music History) and a BA (German Literature) from the University of Western Ontario. Ms. Rutledge’s research interests include eighteenth-century Lieder; K.F. Zelter and J.W. Goethe and their role in the formation of the musical canon; and how music and musicology assist in creating and maintaining national voices.
