DAVID TOWNSEND has been a passionate admirer of the music of Bach for thirty years. He is professor of Medieval Studies and English in the University of Toronto and Associate Director of the Centre for Medieval Studies. He and his partner Jonathan Silin divide their time between Toronto and Amagansett NY.
