The Rev. PETER WYATT is Principal and Associate Professor of Theology at Emmanuel College of Victoria University, teaching in the areas of ecumenism and mission. For the last several years, he has served as Reformed Co-chair in the deliberations of Reformed-Roman Catholic International Dialogue on the theme of “The Church as Community of Common Witness to the Kingdom of God.”
After studies in philosophy and English at Victoria College, the University of Toronto, he took his basic degree in theology at Union Theological Seminary, New York. He was ordained in 1969 by Hamilton Conference of The United Church of Canada, and has since served congregations in the Conferences of Alberta, Bay of Quinte, Hamilton and Toronto.
Peter served the General Council of the United Church as General Secretary for Theology, Faith and Ecumenism, 1995-2001. As ecumenical officer for the Church, he was responsible for relationships with other Canadian churches and with the World Council of Churches, the World Methodist Council and the World Alliance of Reformed Churches.
In 1983 he received his Th. D. from Emmanuel College and the Toronto School of Theology. A revision of his dissertation, Jesus Christ and Creation in the Theology of John Calvin, appeared from the Pickwick Press. He is author of a book of sermons, The Page that Fell out of my Bible, as well as of a variety of published sermons and articles.
