Seminars
As a participant in a Conducting Master Class or Choral Workshop, you will attend seminars which provide insight into conducting, repertoire and techniques you can apply immediately. Through presentations by Helmuth Rilling and Doreen Rao, observation, applied practice and performance, you will explore the interpretive elements unique to each section of the orchestra and chorus: technique, articulation, ornamentation, and dynamics. Maestro Rilling will guide you through a study of various text-related issues for player and conductor, such as German language, diction and phrasing. You will also analyze works for their historical context, musical structure and theological significance. Other aspects of study include:
- Preparing scores for rehearsal and performance
- Learning rehearsal techniques
- Practicing advanced conducting techniques
- Observing Helmuth Rilling in rehearsals and performances
