The newly inaugurated Fleck Family Foundation Toronto Bach Academy for Young Choirs is an educational outreach program of the Toronto Bach Festival. The Bach Academy offers youth and community choirs from across Ontario the opportunity to participate in one day of the afternoon Discovery Series’ open rehearsals and master classes with The Toronto Bach Festival Singers, Orchestra and Soloists under the direction of Maestro Helmuth Rilling.
This unique opportunity differs greatly from other, mostly competitive, festivals currently available to choirs across the province. The participating youth are not only exposed to a very high degree of professionalism from the Soloists and The Toronto Bach Festival Singers and Orchestra, they also have the rare chance of hearing, watching, and working with Maestro Helmuth Rilling, one of the world’s pre-eminent Bach scholars and conductors.
A second, undeniable benefit to these choirs is the professional development that their own conductors receive through observation during these sessions. This allows the conductors to further develop the musical education of their choristers and the community at large, throughout the year.
Registration is limited and is filling up quickly.
