The Bach Festival Singers announces their second season as the official chamber choir of the Toronto Bach Festival with Helmuth Rilling. The vibrant multigenerational ensemble of solo artists with ensemble sensitivity is composed of qualified professional singers and gifted university choristers. In addition to its participation in the Bach St. John Passion performances with the renowned German Maestro, this innovative ensemble will undertake a short season of its own concerts with plans for recording and concert tour to Chicago under the direction of Doreen Rao in a program entitled Bach and the Baltics.

Founded by Doreen Rao in 1994, the University of Toronto MacMillan Singers were named to celebrate the legacy of Sir Ernest MacMillan, an inspired performer and devoted teacher who influenced every aspect of Canada's musical life. Representing the Faculty of Music in concerts with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the University of Toronto's Bach Festivals with Maestro Helmuth Rilling, the young ensemble of gifted singers perform a wide range of culturally diverse and distinctive repertoire with a demonstrated commitment to the performance of contemporary choral music.

The Bach Festival Orchestra is composed of talented young performers from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Music programs partnered with prominent Canadian musicians, many of them members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, in a unique mentorship program. Students and professionals alike bring lively and flexible musicianship and sound to the masterworks they study and present under Maestro Rilling's baton.
